4.C Direct Reduced Iron Fines (DRI Fines) FE TYPICAL 80% - 85% (FE TOTAL) FE METAL 70% - 77%. Direct Reduced Iron Fines (DRI Fines) are small iron particles derived from the direct reduction process used to produce sponge iron. Retaining most of the metallic properties of their larger DRI counterparts, these fines serve as an excellent substitute for scrap metal in steelmaking. They blend well with other iron sources, offering a cost-effective, high-purity iron input that enhances steel quality in electric arc furnaces (EAF). Fe Total: Typically 80% – 85% Fe Metal: Typically 70% – 77% Carbon (C) Content: Approximately 1.5-4%Gangue (Impurities) Less than 5% (mainly silica and alumina) Bulk Density: 1.5-3.0 tons/m³ Size; Fines, typically under 6.35 mm Moisture; Generally less than 1% to prevent reoxidation Form; Granulated or powdered, depending on production and handling processes Chemical Composition; Low Sulfur (<0.01%) and Phosphorus (<0.05%) contents to ensure high purity and quality Usage ; Used as feedstock in Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF), Blast Furnaces, and Basic Oxygen Furnaces (BOF) Packaging; Typically shipped in bulk or in jumbo bags depending on customer requirements
